How is DPS Calculated? Rather than just dropping a bunch of calculators in your lap and sending you out into Wraeclast, we thought it would be a good idea to give you a basic understanding of how DPS is calculated. At the most basic level, every weapon in PoE has minimum damage and maximum damage (base damage), and attack speed. PoE 3.9 Duelist Cyclone Slayer Endgame Build (PC,PS4,Xbox,Mobile) After GGG weakened the Cyclone, it seems that this skill is no longer popular, but its excellent mapping speed and high damage still attract many players to try. If you want to experience a melee class in PoE 3.9, Cyclone is a good choice. Saboteur is biased towards Traps/Mines. So you could make a Bladefall Poison Miner or a Point Blank Puncture (Bleed) Trapper - Assassin is biased toward Crit, so it's not specific to either of them - Trickster is biased to Eva/ES, Dodge, and DoT, do you can make ED/Contagion build or even a CA build Etc for Ranger's Ascendancy Classes. Damage conversion is done before any increases, or multipliers are applied to damage guaranteeing that they are only applied once. However, converted damage is affected by modifiers that apply to both the original damage type it was converted from, and the new damage type that it was converted to.

I have.
100 Chaos Damage Claw.
100 DMG HIT + 40 DMG as Poison (20 x 2 sec)
THEN:
I have +20% increased Chaos Damage from tree.
120 Damage HIT + 48 DMG as Posion (24 x 2 sec)
OR
120 Damage HIT + 57,6 DMG as Posion (28,8 x 2 sec)
Is my calculation correct? The WIKI says Poison is affected by Chaos Damage Modifiers.
So what now? Anyone knows for sure the correct calculation?
thank your for your time! kind regards

Double dipping is no more, so the first calculation is correct.

So then the Wiki entry is incorrect and i can only increase the Poison DMG with the following 3?
#1 Poison Damage
#2 Damage over Time
#3 Damage with Ailments
Is that correct then?

Not quite. Poison is calculated from the base damage (100 here) as of 3.0, not from the actual hit damage (120 here). The wiki is correct, it's just that the two of them now scale independantly from the very begging.

So how to scale those the best way with attack based stuff?

I was looking for a Poison thread.
I am trying to build Voltaxic rift Raider. Poison is still based on chaos dmg.
If I convert lightning to chaos, than it is base dmg and will improve Posion dmg, right?
Added chaos gem should work too, all modifiers to Chaos dmg are working differently as I assume so in my case would it be better to scale lightning dmg only?

I think due to the changes to it, you have to decide between scaling the hit and scaling the ailment. Both at once would result in lower damage, since the damage types are using completely different supports.

You are incorrect. If you want to deal poison damage (rather than just chaos damage), then scaling lightning damage will do literally nothing. *added* lightning damage will help, but conversion to get the 'base' chaos damage for poison happens before the %increased lightning damage modifier applies (the reason it works at all for hit damage is because converted damage remembers its old damage type).
So if you have
100 base lightning hit
60% lightning damage converted to chaos
100% increased lightning damage
You will deal:
80 lightning damage
120 chaos damage
12 poison damage per second per poison stack
In contrast, if you had
100 base lightning hit
60% lightning damage converted to chaos
100% increased chaos damage
You will deal:
40 lightning damage
120 chaos damage
24 poison damage per second per poison stack
As you can see, the chaos damage mod is scaling the poison damage as well, but the lightning damage is not.

GGG again fucked up everything and they don´t even try to make things really clear. Since i am not able to find any source regarding in depth calculation examples of the new 'system'. I don´t know man, I am playing since the game was released years ago AND now again even i know all stuff before its total LOST again. New players can´t take it, I am sure. No wonder less people playing.

Map farming Shadow build. Poison's damage scales very well with high attack speed and claw's physical damage, making it a verpowerful weapon

A hit of damage that has a chance to poison is capable of inflicting poison. Only physical and chaos damage are able to inflict poison. Poison is a cumulatively stacking debuff. Each application—or 'stack'—of poison remains present on the target dealing chaos damage over time until it runs its course. Poison damage is not actually calculated in damage per second, but damage per frame. Diablo 2 is set to run at a constant 27 frames per second. An item that does 27 poison damage, over 1 second, is actually doing 1 damage per frame. To calculate the total poison damage done from all your items and skills, there are two steps. Path of Exile can be intimidating for new players due to the fact that a certain level of understanding of game mechanics is demanded of players who wish to survive. Thankfully, the developers pride themselves on succinct and consistent tooltips, which make it easier for players to plan ahead or predict the success of certain str.

How Is Poison Dmg Calculated Poe In Minecraft

Poison is a very powerful status ailment, which scales very well with end-game gear. Certain items or abilities may cause hits with physical and chaos damage to apply poison, which is a negative status ailment that deals additional portion of that damage over a short duration. Poison can be applied multiple times, and each hit can apply a maximum of 1 stack of poison (but attacks can hit multiple times). With skills and items used in this build, the damage output of your character is greatly increased with each additional stack. This makes this type of poison builds reliant on high Physical/Chaos weapon damage and very high attack speed, to keep as many poison stacks active at a time. It also increases the overall damage output.

You can check our other Path of Exile builds at Odealo's Crafty Guides - Full List

1. Gameplay

This build is based on Assassin Ascendancy class, which is one of the few classes that affect Poison directly. As a Shadow, you get easy access to plenty of Claw and Attack Speed nodes which greatly benefits this build DPS. It is also a Dexterity-based class, which makes it easy to cap the 300 Dexterity requirement on the Dendrobate unique Body Armour. We have picked Spectral Throw as your main active Skill because of good AoE, and more importantly how it Hits enemies. The spectral copies of your weapons follow a 'boomerang' path, hitting enemies along the way, then stopping for a brief moment and returning to your character, hitting enemies again several times. Spectral Throw can apply multiple instances of poison with every attack because of:

How is poison dmg calculated poe 4
  1. The 'boomerang' path that Spectral Projectiles follow
  2. 100% Spectral Throw's Projectiles Pierce Chance
  3. Lycosidae shield that makes your Attacks unevadable (you may also try to increase Accuracy Rating to as close to 95% as possible if you can't afford Lycosidae)
  4. 100% chance to apply Poison on Hit (Wasp Nest, Passive Nodes, and Lesser Poison on Dendrobate sum up to exactly 100% Chance to Poison on Hit)
  5. Good AoE coverage with Greater Multiple Projectiles Support Gem

2. Build's PROS & CONS

PROS
  • high damage which scales extremely well in endgame
  • high clear speed on maps
  • good defenses from fantastic evasion and block
  • smooth leveling with good blight's decent AoE and damage
CONS
  • vulnerable to physical reflect map mods
  • not viable for end-game bosses without excessive investments in high Life gear

3. Leveling tips

Leveling with Poison is quite easy. You pick up a lot of Chaos Damage nodes in your Skill Tree, which makes it a natural choice to level up with Poison/Chaos active skills. It is recommended to use Viper Strike for applying Poison and as single target DPS. We also suggest using Blight to help out with AoE and clear bigger packs.

Suggested leveling Gem setups:

Viper Strike setup
Viper Strike - melee attack that applies poison on hit
Melee Physical Damage Support - good DPS buff
Multistrike Support - allows the supported attack skill to hit several times, applying a few stacks of poison
Blight setup
Blight - area spell that deals chaos damage. Since we take the chaos/damage over time nodes, this will be an excellent choice for the leveling phase
Increased Area of Effect Support - grants better area coverage
Faster Casting Support
Void Manipulation Support - increased the chaos damage dealt by Blight
Utility Gems
Despair - this curse will greatly increase your chaos damage
Clarity - grants additional mana regeneration

5. Gear Setup

Poison Spectral Throw can be played with at least several Weapon choices, but we recommended using Claws, as they provide high Attack Speed (which makes it easier to stack more Poison). Also, Wasp Nest gains a terrific DPS buff when attacking monsters that have 5 or more stacks of Poison applied. It also comes at a meager price. This build can also be fairly powerful with a low budget, however, it scales extremely well with endgame gear, so this is what we have decided to cover in this guide. With the recommended unique items, it's crucial for the Amulet and Rings to provide high Life, Elemental Resistances, and required Attributes.
